ACTS 28:15

And from there, when the brethren
heard about us, they came to meet
us as far as Appii Forum and Three
Inns.
When Paul saw them, he thanked
God and took courage.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT

The name Appii Forum is also known
as Via Appia and The Appian Way. This
was a popular road which Paul traveled 
on his way to Rome. The road is named
after Appius Claudius Caecus who was
Roman officer. This road was also used
by the Roman military.

DISCOVERING THE TRUTH, POOL OF SILOAM

^{JOHN 9:6-7}

6 When He had said these things, He 
spat on the ground and made clay with
the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of
the blind man with the clay.
7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the
pool of Siloam.” So he went and washed, 
and came back seeing.

JOHN 9:11

He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus
made clay and anointed my eyes and said
to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash
so I went and washed, and I received sight.”

HISTORICAL CONTEXT

This is a rock pool located in Jerusalem.
It's water was provided the Gihon Spring. 
The pool is surrounded  by stone walls 
and there are steps leading to the platform
of the pool.

PSALM 92;12
The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

ISAIAH 41;19
I will plant in the wilderness the cedar and 
the acacia tree...

EZEKIEL 31: 3

Indeed Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon,
With fine branches that shaded the forest,
And of high stature;
And its top was among the thick boughs.

1 KINGS 6: 2-3
2 He also built the House of the Forest of Lebanon;
its length was one hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits, with four rows of cedar pillars, and cedar beams on the pillars.
3 And it was paneled with cedar above the beams that were on forty-five pillars, fifteen to a row.


HISTORICAL CONTEXT 

The scriptures confirm that the Cedars of Lebanon were tall and stately shade trees. These trees grow
in the mountains of Lebanon. The cedar wood is red, very durable, and has a pleasant fragrance.  King Solomon used it in the construction of his temple.
The Egyptians used this cedar to build ships.

The Cedars of Lebanon are also called the Cedars of God.  Lebanon is still known for their beautiful cedar trees. The number of trees in the forests of Lebanon have decreased due to deforestation.

DISCOVERING THE TRUTH, JOSHUA'S ALTAR

JOSHUA 8:30-31

³⁰ Now Joshua built an altar to the Lord God of Israel in Mount Ebal, 
³¹ as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the Book of the Law of Moses: “an altar of whole stones over which no man has wielded an iron tool. And they offered on it burnt offerings to the Lord, and sacrificed peace offerings.


JOSHUA'S ALTAR
 

HISTORICAL CONTEXT 

A archaeologist named Adam Zertal was doing a
survey in Manasseh at Mt Ebal on 4/6/80.  He discovered a Hebrew altar. The altar was dated
around 1250 B. C.  He used pottery for dating 
the altar.  He also discovered  6.5 ft circular
stones with burnt kosher bones inside it. This
altar may have been built by Joshua.
